Hopefully I might be about to get really good at OS installs also, if I can
find the remaining things I need to get started. I just acquired a
9406-270. Sadly it wasn't given to me, and it has no DASD. I'll need to
locate drives for it, a terminal for a console, and install media. I knew
before acquiring it that the best I could hope for without license keys
would be a base OS install that would have to be restored/reinstalled every
couple of months. This will be strictly for home/personal use/education. I
have a free account on PUB1.DE, and QSYSOPR access at work, but wanted a box
with full access at home to try things I can't do on the above two systems.
Does anyone know where I might find install media for a 9406-270? Also, I
know I need AS/400 specific drives with the right firmware and low level
format. Does anyone have recommendations on the minimum number and size of
drives I need to look for to perform an OS install?
