Eventualy you will have to enable IPv6, it will be better to look a solution that works with IPv6.

I use 0.pool.ntp.org , 1.pool.ntp.org and 2.pool.ntp.org with IPv5 on, no errors logged.
If I understand correctly, those addresses will map to the nearest time server.

Chris,

I thought I had IPv6 disabled, now, it looks like it is re-enabled.
Now I'm searching for my docs on disabling IPV6, not finding them.
I also remember a Network Health Check tool, also looking for that.

We had that error at one time also. Our system was resolving the IP address to an IPv6 address not an IPv4. We do not run IPv6 however the local loop back has an IPv6 address defined as well as an IPv4. I disabled the IPv6 and the NTP errors went away.

All LPARS, started receiving this message on 11/12/14 - TCP9110 The maximum threshold for SNTP Client errors has been reached.
Checked the QTOTNTP job Connecting to host 206.246.122.250 using port 123.
No response received from NTP server.
Also checked NIST Internet Time Service, that IP was listed as ok.

Do I need to switch to a new IP?
Any recommendations?

Thank You
