Re: Can I use DDS to create an SQL table name


Specifically read about the 64k access path vs DDS's 8K access path.


I'm not sure if that was ever relevant, but it's not at 7.1. See the
ACCPTHSIZ parameter of the CHGPF command. You can set the access path size
yourself.


Also remember, there haven't been improvements in DDS for years. All
IBM's investments are happening with SQE.


Apples to oranges - no, the comparison is more like apples to bicycles. The
SQE works the same with both DDS and DDL tables.


Check out slide #64 and on. Another awesome slide is #73 that lists of a
ton of features you can't do with DDS.


It's not clear what is being tested in slide #64, but I have run benchmarks
where RLA outperformed SQL 5 to 1. Granted, I have run other benchmarks
where SQL performed better than RLA. Depends on what you need to accomplish.
