At last check IBM i's version of Apache doesn't support Web Sockets. This
spring I submitted a requirement to IBM to start supporting it.

My gut-feel is that IBM will not fork much from the Apache Foundation
version, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

My first inclination was to ask for Web socket support within the HTTP
server. But after more pondering I felt that there were enough differences
between HTTP interfaces and a Web sockets interfaces, that I felt that
separate servers is justified.

Even Web socket clients (browsers) expect separate IP ports for each.
