One way to learn about this kind of stuff is by creating duplicate objects in QTEMP ... then you can try out the various CPYF commands on the copy in QTEMP, and see what happens...

You could also create a "permanent" library named, e.g. "$TEMPLIB" or similar, for such "experiments" and this library and its objects would persist across sign-off and sign-on, etc., until you decide to delete the library or delete one or more objects in this "test" library.
