So because I just replied to another thread that got me thinking VTL you
can use a SPHiNX VTL as the target from BRMS then from the SPHiNX do a
stacked export of the BRMS "tapes" to a single LTO volume for off-site
storage. This gives best of both worlds. Your "tapes" (Virtual) are
still local and in BRMS control for any needed restores (and QUICKLY
too, it's virtual) AND you've off-sited them on a single cartridge which
you created without any system overhead since it's done on the SPHiNX.
Plus the SPHiNX looks like multiple drives to i and as a consequence you
can back up all your partitions at any time.

Kirk,
Have you thought about submitting a DCR, or a COMMON requirement, to allow
BRMS to stack multiple lpars onto a single tape?
IDK if we could use that as I would be concerned about timing the saves on
each lpar.
