If your savf is on tape,
1st, you need to restore the savf from tape to a library.
2nd, you would restore from the savf.
I don't think you can restore directly from a savf on tape.

Normally when you do a RST it looks for the file label like SAV20140809.

How does your example know to look for my SAVSAVF which is on the tape?

Jerry,

Here's an IFS restore example from tape and savf.

RST DEV('/QSYS.LIB/TAPMLB01.DEVD') OBJ(('/www/test')) VOL(001038)

RST DEV('/qsys.lib/mailtool.lib/ifsconfig.file')
OBJ(('/bvstools/mailtool/*')) CRTPRNDIR(*YES)
PRNDIROWN(*PARENT)

When you do a SAVSAVF of the IFS to a tape which is the reciprocal restore command for the IFS objects?

For db2 object you would use RSTOBJ.

I am not seeing how to handle restoring IFS.
