So can we "presume", that my full system save, which doesn't use SWA, will run faster as well on the IFS?
I ask, because the IFS save time on our full system save takes as long without running SWA as it does with SWA...

That PTF was developed as part of a PMR that was called in by a customer.
In that case it was only part of the fix, where a save operations in an iASP
grew substantially after a system outage. It turns out there was quite a
memory leak in the save software that caused a significant amount of page
faulting. The save time savings is by eliminating the page faulting.

looking closer...
this PTF said it was improving the SWA on the SAV command...
my SAV went from 42 minutes to 11,
but also my SAVLIB went from 30 minutes to 13....

I applied this ptf yesterday...
my environment:

P7+, 8202,E4C, connecting to a IBM ProtecTier VTL device via Fiber,
P7+rest
same as Paul...

before ptf ..... 71 minutes
after ptf ...... 21 minutes

wow.
that's an improvement...
