Try out our MAILTOOL software. It's not free but it's inexpensive and you
will get support. We like to price our software at the point where instead
of searching for hours you would have it already done and paid for.

It's also free to try and/or at least use to debug. With MAILTOOL Plus the
debugging will show you all the communications between your IBMi and your
mail router which really makes things easier.

This sounds more like a CCSID and/or encoding issue though.

At the very least trying MAILTOOL you'd be able to find out if it's
something with MMAIL's attachment encoding or something else.

But just because you "custom generate" something doesn't mean you have

I'm not saying you should rewrite everything to use the commands.
But, as Scott suggested, you can try using a command to see if it
works. And if it does, you don't necessarily even have to
reverse-engineer the command to replicate what it does; you can simply
call the command directly from your program.

I'll grant that there may be things which are too complicated for any
of the MMAIL commands. (This was especially true years ago, when
there were a lot fewer commands provided.) Still, I get the feeling
many folks don't even know that the commands are there. Or they keep
forgetting about QCMDEXC. (And before anyone recommends QCAPCMD
instead, let me just say that if you're going that route, then the
convenience advantage of the commands over the service program is
diminished.)
