Now there's an idea!
If the current size of the PO is only 15 characters then store a value in
it, like F...YOURMAMA. Then your program logic can say
If PO='F...YOURMAMA';
then use new extended PO field
EndIf;

And when the users query and find the value of the PO = 'F...YOURMAMA'
then that should help garner support to recompile all your programs to do
it right.
