RE: V6R1 to V7R1 i5/OS upgrade questions

INZSYS and INZBR are auto submitted following an i5/OS upgrade.
I change system value QSTRUPPGM from my normal QSTRUP to QSTRUPRES.

IPL with limited QSTRUPRES will result in the following SBS started.
This has been working out well when applying PTFs, etc, enough of system running to work without any apps running.
If all is well, I do another IPL, which will be normal.
IPLs down to 10 minutes or less, so I don't mind the 2nd IPL.

And I think you'd probably want the INZSYS to finish prior to "the full backup before returning the system to the users".

I do not think that CHGIPLA to bring the system up restricted during an
upgrade is recommended. When do you have it fire off the INZSYS? After
the cume IPL?
