I'm only holding one jobq, BRMS.
Following an IPL/system save, BRMS will submit the autodup jobs immediately when the system save completes, however, I need to run a restore process before the autodup jobs.
Log on system, hold the auto dup jobs, release the BRMS jobq for the restore job, then release the autodup jobs.

Yeah holding the "Q" queues makes for an exciting IPL.

doing it during an upgrade, even better...

My bad.

Yes a job queue will stay on hold unless it is released by some
automatic process.

I've had issues where I held ALL job queues and IPLed to start an
upgrade or something. Quite ugly.

Rob,

He asked whether a job queue would stay on hold, not whether the jobs
would stay on the job queue.

And the job queue will stay on hold as long as there's nothing in the
startup program that releases it . . .

No doubt.
A queue is a queue is a queue.
Jobs will stay on a job queue across an IPL.
Spool files will stay in an output queue across an IPL.
Data will stay in a data queue across an IPL.

I'm sure the confusion is just because it's a Monday. :-)
