No other parms whatsoever.

Times on the entries in the *OUTFILE were all today between 3am and 5am
while the backup was running.

The operator just finished with a couple of regular weekly, very small,
backups so I did another PRTERRLOG OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) OUTFILE(JEFF/PRTERRLOG).

Now there are an additional 14 entries in the *OUTFILE from her work. A
straight print of PRTERRLOG still shows nothing.

However, from the help:

*VOLSTAT
Only the tape or diskette volume statistical data records are
printed.

Note: If you specify *PRINT on the Output (OUTPUT)
parameter and *VOLSTAT on this parameter, lifetime
statistics are printed. If you specify *OUTFILE on the
OUTPUT parameter and *VOLSTAT on this parameter, session
statistics are directed to the output file. If the name of
the volume is reported as '******', it means that this
volume is not displayable.

Stuff like that explains why they might be different. However, I would
think that the printout would have more then. Session vs Lifetime. Did
you use ANY other parameters? Any? Some combinations ignore time period
and jump to lifetime.

What time period were the entries displayed in the outfile?

This command:

PRTERRLOG

results in a printout with no entries.

This command:

PRTERRLOG OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) OUTFILE(JEFF/PRTERRLOG)

results in an outfile with 37 entries.

Why would I get different results? The timeframe defaults to the current
date. Shouldn't they be the same?

Incidentally, all 37 entries reference the tape drive during this
morning's
System i backup.
