Hi Jack,

Thanks, however, that article doesn't mention trying to do it via symbolic links that point to /QNTC folders.

The RPG program might work in that environment, but as this was a one-off for the customer, I didn't spend the time. In fact, I simply passed on the cat command to the programmer on the other end, and he took care of it.

This situation appears to be a problem for other commands too:

> cd /g
/QNTC/OP-2003-SQL1/Galt2008
$
> pwd
/QNTC/OP-2003-SQL1/Galt2008
$
> ls
> pwd

Note that there was no output from the ls command, but I was able to enter the pwd command. Then I typed ctl-c ENTER and waited some more. Eventually the folder listing was displayed as well as the result of the pwd command.

Peter I found this link that might help you out:

QSH CMD('cat /scott/file1.txt /dave/work/file2.txt > /scott/result.txt')

cd /g

before doing the cat command.

Peter, when you start to do this CAT sequence, are you in the g
directory??

Hi Everyone,

I'm working on a v5r4 system that has a symbolic link to a remote
system:
Object link Type
g SYMLNK->DDIR

Content of Link . . . : /QNTC/OP-2003-SQL1/Galt2008

There are several files in that folder that I want to concatenate, so
from an OS400 command line, I started QSH and entered:

cat asp_445.csv asp_445_canada.csv asp_445_no.csv > asp_445_all.csv

It sat there forever, so I canceled it and looked at the joblog, where I
see that I got a CPDB050 with error code 3447, indicating a timeout
waiting for the remote host to respond.

When I do a wrklnk '/g', I immediately see the folder and can look at
all the files within it. So what's the deal? wrklnk uses a different
method of accessing /g than qsh? If so, what can I do about it?
