Kirk,

I'm running 18 - 177GB SSD for production, located in a 5887 disk drawer, with paired 5913 located in a 5877 PCI drawer .
Also running 24 - 571 10K for R&D, located in a 2nd 5887 disk drawer, with a 2nd pair of 5913 located in a 2nd 5877 drawer.
3RD LPAR 8 571 10K for Upgrade LPAR, located in the CEC, Dual 5901 Raided.
I'm configured with dualGX++ buses for redundancy.
With the dual buses, the 5913 pair is located in opposite 5877 drawers, (if drawer fails, the pair will not)
On a 5913, the SSD and 10K could reside on the same 5913, in the same drawer, but not recommended.
Running SSD off the CEC controller was also not recommended, not enough cache on the CEC controller
Also, the CEC is not hot swappable, so not using any of the CEC PCI.
My Production LPAR screams with the SSD.
R&D is 4 times slower with the 10k drives.
LPAR 3, 10k with 5901, is like a turtle.
Hope this helps.

Subject: SSDs on Power7
Power7 E4C 6core running 7.1...
Requirement nothing in the CEC that uses a Cache Battery or Say Internal SSDs.
Iis there any controller/chassis config that allow SSDs to exist in the same expansion chassis as HDDs? Best I can tell when running IBM i if I want to run SSDs out side of the CEC I need to A. Dedicate a pair of say 5805's and a 5887 for SSDs Only B. Use say a 5913 and use 1 5887 for SSDs and a 2nd 5887 for HDDs
Thanks
