Generally, impossible. It depends on how it is written. If it was-----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-----
just a stand alone C application it might be possible to port it
but if it written in VB or C# or Microsoft languages completely
impossible. Not just the languages but also a big part of any
Microsoft application is register entries. Same thing would apply
to a port to Linix.
My opinion only.
About going to Linux, I have no idea. Generally it is driven by
the software rather than application. If the application you want
is running on an AS400, you buy the AS400. If it written and runs
on Linux, you buy Linux. Now does, of course, almost everything is
some kind of combination.
