So you're saying that the script interpreter(s) you're using only read
72 chars? (I assume you are talking about SQL interpreters?) Or that
the generated SQL can be greater than 80 chars?

(Either way, it doesn't change the fact that the time already spent
gathering responses on this list is longer than the amount of time it
probably would have required me to write a Python script to "fix" all
of the generated SQL.)
