OK I must be off my rocker because no one seems to agree with me. (that happens a lot with my ideas :)

But, I am curious - shouldn't QTEMP be at the TOP of the liblist (instead of at the bottom)???

To answer your question, in practice, it would be used as it is used in Windows, Unix, saving MS Word documents, and the rest of the IT world. Organize your company's iseries stuff by groups [plural]
- (as opposed to organizing by a singular group - one library deep).

Joel,

I'd still like to hear how you would use that in practice.

Let's say my library list, from an actual job description, looks something like this:
Sequence Sequence
number Library number Library
10 ERPLXUSRF 120 SSAGTLIC83
20 ERPLXUSRO 130 ROUTINES
30 ERPLXEC 140 TLABARCODE
40 ESG21F 150 QGPL
50 ESG21O 160 GDILOGF
60 ERPLXF 170 QTEMP
70 ERPLXPTFO 180 WEBTOP
80 ERPLXO
90 EDILXO
100 ERPLXUSRQ
110 ERPLXFINQ

And number 10 changes, with maybe even a 05 inserted, for our test environment. How would using subdirectories help?
