I suppose if they are talking Web, they could log in with anything
through the use of an access control list. I've not used them and don't
remember how or if you get to any object-level security that way.

If it's for ftp then you can use an exit point and log on however your
little pea picking heart desires. I wrote my own but we decided to
bitto a commercial product. We now use GoAnywhere to serve FTP. I havesome
outside people who log in using their email address.
5250 is a bit trickier. Normally what you do then requires some
implementation of EIM or SSO. Then you set up their IBM i account a
listdifferent. Read the help for chgusrprf for "Local password management
(LCLPWDMGT)"
