No, the STRMNTBRM does not run before he backup. It appears that the PRTERRLOG information is more accurate than BRMS so I'll stick with that. Thanks Rob

The total number of bytes written (in millions of bytes) to this volume. This field is updated when a STRMNTBRM RTVVOLSTAT(*YES) is run.

Any possibility you are doing
STRMNTBRM
before the last backup?
