NFS and Windows Services for Unix is your friend.
QNTC is your bad second cousin.

subject: QNTC: Is there an issue when Windows Id is different from
the AS400 User Id?
Good afternoon list!
Operating system: V5R4
Third Party Prod: SEQUEL R9M6
Maybe this has been already resolved but is better to ask the crew...
During the development / testing process for a ticket, I have plans to use the EXECUTE command (from SEQUEL) to export a file to a with shared network folder. This is my main goal. However, we need to enable an IBM/Microsoft function. It is QNTC, if I am not mistaken.
Here is a link that discusses QNTC in more detail:
http://www.itjungle.com/fhg/fhg031704-story04.html
In the article it says: "QNTC is shipped as part of the base OS/400 operating system, but you must have the TCP/IP Connectivity Utilities for iSeries 400 licensed program 5769TC1 or 5722TC1 installed and configured in order to use it. You also need a working AS/400 NetServer configuration on your iSeries or AS/400 box, which is configured through a later version Client Access Express for Windows or iSeries Access for Windows Operations Navigator. On the Windows side, you generally need a working Microsoft Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) server in order to locate other Windows servers on the network. Once that QNTC service is active and available, then you can use the EXECUTE command in SEQUEL to save results to the remote location."
I investigated and found out that:
Licensed Program 5769TC1 5722TC1
OHS7 Not Found Found
NOVA Not Found Found
OHS1 Not Found Found
Seems like we have a good opportunity to use this parameter of the EXECUTE command then. Now, apparently there is a problem in that the Windows user id and the AS400 user id must be the same so it is not ideal for user initiated options.
Is this a true statement or is there anything that may have changed since V5R4? How we can overcome this?
Thanks in advance,
Peter Vidal
