Ending SMTP and MSF, and doing STRTCPSVR *SMTP causes this on QHST:

Trabajo 683068/QTCP/QTSMTPSRVD arrancado el 06/08/13 a las 16:32:33 en el
subsistema QSYSWRK en QSYS. Trabajo introducido en el sistema el 06/08/13 a
las 16:32:33
Trabajo 683068/QTCP/QTSMTPSRVD finalizado el 06/08/13 a las 16:32:34; se
utilizaron 1 segundos, codigo de finalizacion 0

That last one, expanded says:

Causa . . . . . .
-------------------------------------------
and it goes on explaining the exit codes, but since both are 0 i dont think
i need to paste them, do i?
Doing a DSPJOBLOG on that job brings me only .. (two dots) as the joblog,
doing F1 on that brings me the user that ran the strtcpsvr, time and etc
but the same two dots as the message.

I'm rather fond of the linux-habit of being extremely verbose on the logs,
and IBM i has always done that, it's the first time i see an empty message
like that...

Best Regards,

No antivirus, and ASP was recently expanded and is just at 69,29% In fact,
MSF seems to work (it has it's 3 jobs running), it's just that the
QTSMTPCLTd and QTSMTPSRVd jobs are NOT running and wont start with
strtcpsvr *smtp.
Just logged into the dev partition (last PTF install, a month ago) and it
has both jobs running on qsyswrk.

Hi all,

I haven't configured smtp server on IBM i yet (i prefer to dabble with
VIOS and Dual VIOS yet) so i dont know how a working smtp/msf
enviroment looks like. But... on an already working and heavely used
smtp/msf system, suddenly smtp doesnt start. MSF does but a test
snddst mail (that on the joblog appears as sent) creates CPFAF98
errors on qhst.
I've tried stopping MSF, stopping the SMTP server (not that it's
running) and then:
strtcpsvr *smtp
strmsf *reset
But netstat confirms that nothing is listening. Also, QTSMTPSRVD
(which i assume is the smtp daemon) starts and ends with a joblog that
consist of ".."
In a few hours i get the machine and i'll do what i shouldn't have to
do, IPL.
System is v5r4 last updated somewhere last year, i'm waiting to
install ptfs on it, but if it was working until yesterday i doubt it's
PTF related.
Any tips regarding this (besides, stop using it and migrate to one of
the various free alternatives, which i've peddled here already) is
welcome.

Thanks!
