It wasn't too difficult, basically split the effort between myself and the
i guru and the BO guru.  But your IBM i guy needs to be up to date with SQL
skills.

One nice thing from your perspective is that the BO universe hides the
"bulkiness" of the original DB.  The universe concept also allows you to
limit the data (tables) available.

If you don't already have BO (and the expertise) in-house, consider playing
with IBM's Web Query.  If you have a license to Query/400, you are entitled
to Web Query.  Like BO, there's meta-data setup requirements, which makes
it harder to get started but offers some of the same "hiding" functionality.
