Disclaimer: I have not worked with this... Yet.

This suppport definitely will allow IBM i partitions to happily connect to the V7000 and V3700 both directly and with NPIV, VIOS not required.

From research so far I don't believe it will do is actually replace VIOS as a HOST Partition. Nothing I can find so far indicates it will behave like VIOS and simply pass along disk I/O requests from Client to SAN. Neither can I find any reference to allowing redundant host partitions with IBM i as the host. (Outside of Native mirroring at the Client level which doubles the total disk required.)
