I get worried that should one job get hung or bomb, the next hourly will never execute.
So rather than have a single job that might be hung and then cancelled by an operator,
I like to have a daily job that will submit the HOURLY_JOB using SCDDATE(*CURRENT) and SCDTIME( 020000 )
HOURLY_JOB is submitted every day at 1:00 AM
Also, I usually have a data area or file or message to QSYSOPR
which goes with the HOURLY_JOB.
It gets loaded with the values of
COMPLETED at 01:00:00
RUNNING NOW
COMPLETED at 02:00:00
etc.
