James,

Welcome to V5R2. :-) Seriously that's when iASPs arrived. Not a lot of folks used them then and they got much more useful with V5R3. With i 6.1 the entire POWER HA Suite arrived that's finally when most customers were introduced to them. Frankie (the 170 that hosts www.midrange.com) has had an iASP since he was created! Jim Oberholtzer and I did an iASP Presentation at COMMON in Indianapolis with Frankie and that was so long ago, Frankie hadn't even been named yet!

Seriously though traditional RPG/Cobol/CL applications have very few issues at all with iASPs. Mostly you simply need to understand the concepts of libraries in iASPs and the relationship between PFs, LFs, and Journals - all of which must be IN or OUT of an iASP.

This is the first I've heard of IASPs. I've found the Redbook about it,
but I'd also kind of like to know what the collective wisdom of the List
can tell me about them.

I remember one time, years ago, when some QuestView users got bitten by
ASPs, and I had to modify some things in the code, for compatibility; do
IASPs have any potential to bite?
