True, but you can force RPG to recognize it as a true integer using the H-spec ExtBinInt. Of course that doesn't apply to internally defined 9b0 fields, but that you can presumably control and change the definition to 10i0.

FYI...the DDS BINARY type (with a zero decimal ;) is a true binary integer...

Whereas RPG's BINARY type is not.

We didn't have the 0, after adding that it mimics what SQL DDL generates.

9 b 0 I believe.

Folks,

We have DDS defined files and we need to add an INTEGER column to
the file so we can do a SQL JOIN statement without data type
conversions from a DDS defined file to a SQL DDL define file.

The problem we have is if we use a DDL (SQL) generated table that
has an integer column defined on it and do a DSPFFD on that file we
get the
following:

Data Type: BINARY
Field Length: 9 0
Buffer Length: 4
Buffer Position: 1

We so far have been unable to replicate this type of field with a
DDS
Spec.

How do we represent an INTEGER in DDS or are we required to convert
this to SQL DDL defined file and get rid of the DDS Spec?

Thanks,

Matt
