I have a question concerning an upgrade that we are making this weekend.
I'm taking a Power 5 to a Power 7+ Model D, from 6.1.1 to 6.1.1. The
reason
for the same release is not up for discussion: has to do with release 7
vendor
issues that won't be rectified until sometime in the fall. Eb34 has been
installed on
the Power 7 and the Lic goes on and the disk config is all set up. This is
a LAN
console environment.
My business partner has a specific way of upgrading the system and it
includes
putting the Respin 6.1.1 I-BASE-K on the power 5, doing a Save 21 and
coming
forward with the new config. Basically redoing what is already set up on
the Power 7.
Are there things that I don;t understand here or can either method,
albeit time, be
considered acceptable. I understand that PTF's will need to be reapplied,
but that
seems to be a trivial issue.
