If you restore them into the exact same directory on the other system AND
you restore the *IMGCLG object from the original system into QUSRSYS it
will "just work". I've done this many times using tape - in fact it is how
we distribute stuff around to different customer machines. I've been doing
that since V5R4.

But you must restore the images into the same directory - the entire path
must be the same or you need to rebuild the image catalog.

If you FTP the images into another directory, then all you have to do is
create the image catalog using the new directory name. When you do the
ADDIMGCLGE specify *FROMFILE instead of *GEN on the TOFILE parameter so
that a new file does not get written into the IFS

All that said, I've also used the QVOIFIMG API mentioned by Paul since it
became available and it works just fine.
