Becky,

One thing that really increased my SAVSYS time in the past was
supplemental groups. I've had SAVSYS increase from 4 minutes to 44
minutes based on starting to use supplemental groups and on that sole
basis alone. I had IBM connect in to my system. They ran PRTPRFINT and
could tell that it was using supplemental groups that was causing it. IBM
came to that conclusion, not me.
Another reason I am a much bigger fan of authorization lists.

Sorry to drag you through the DSPLOGBRM but it really did clinch it down.
So many people think that SAVSYS is GO SAVE 21. Not in the least.

I would also check the joblog from that backup to see if it says anything.

Has IBM also tried
STRSST
1. Start a service tool
1. Product activity log
and
5. Licensed Internal Code log
for that time frame?

Have you tried PRTERRLOG TYPE(*VOLSTAT) VOLTYPE(3590)? Yeah, I know 3590
sounds silly for LTO drives, but it works. If you have a bunch of errors
it may be time to retire that tape. Prompt the command. You may want to
reset the statistics every so often. Since you are a brms shop it will
make more sense to you as you will not have multiple tapes with the same
volume id (like IBMIRD or some silly thing carried over from S/36
diskette).
