That makes sense. But this is for setting up an IBM i as NFS server. I've never used the server on an IBM i, only a client - and that is done with the MOUNT command.

The manual really focuses on being a server, and that just wasn't needed by our products at RJS.

Just went looking - here's something interesting -

"All object types in the QSYS.LIB file system can be exported and mounted successfully without error. All operations on exported and mounted file systems will function as if the object existed locally on the server. For example, the only object types in the QSYS.LIB file system that support all file input/output (I/O) operations are database members (.MBR) and user spaces (.USRSPC)."

I think that we have these special cases that make for curious behavior.

Example 2: Mounting a Network File System from TULAB2.
ADDMFS TYPE(*NFS) MFS(’TULAB2:/QSYS.LIB/SCHOOL.LIB’)
MNTOVRDIR(’/HOME’)
This command mounts the remote /qsys.lib/school.lib file system from the remote system TULAB2
over the directory /home on a local client.

Be sure you are talking about the right direction, and whether both systems are IBM i or a mix of IBM i and Linux/Windows.

I have a hard time thinking that we can MOUNT over /QSYS.LIB - that would mean absolutely no access to the local contents of that "directory".

If we CAN do that, the remote server has to be an IBM i, since there is no such thing as QSYS library on other platforms.

Just guessing - have been wrong a couple other times.
