Aldon will pick up on a dependency such as a logical file based on a physical file.

I am using REFFLD in DDS; maybe it doesn't drill down to that level???

Sam_L has the right idea..

You want to use option 40-Define requisite objects

On file AFILE and add an entry for ZFILE.

I'm somewhat surprise that Aldon didn't pick up the dependency itself. Do
you have "Maintain object dependency data" set for the release?

Though as I recall, Aldon doesn't scan for dependency data till a
promotion. So if you haven't moved it out of DEV, you'll need to use
option 40 to manually specify it.

Charles

How?

File "AFILE" DDS has REF keyword to another new file "ZFILE". Since Aldon
seems to process alphabetically, AFILE will try to be created prior to
ZFILE, so promotion fails.

I think you could specify one file as being create dependent on the other.

Is there some kind of constraint key or references to other file? If so,
the ALDON should handle it. But if you don't have those then why would
it
matter?

I would like a certain file entry to be promoted prior to another file.

Is this possible using Aldon Lifecycle Manager for System iAldon
Lifecycle

?
