Ah yes - the obvious answer and that would make sense in a normal world.

But at my company, a separate dept does the promotions. It is "safer" and more secure. Of course they simply promote what I tell them to promote so I don't get it, but it sounds good to auditors I guess.

We have monthly promotions. One ticket, one promotion request. It would take a VP approval to make a second promotion for one ticket and I don't want to explain for hours why I should have to do two promotions for one ticket. It makes me look disorganized and calls attention to problems created by mgmt which of course would be foolish of me to point out. (I used to think that mgmt wanted to know about problems - but I am older and wiser now :)

So - is there a way to prioritize entries in Aldon promotions? I will try the suggestion to make a file dependent on another.

Simple! Promote ZFILE separately, before AFILE.

How?

File "AFILE" DDS has REF keyword to another new file "ZFILE". Since Aldon
seems to process alphabetically, AFILE will try to be created prior to
ZFILE, so promotion fails.

I think you could specify one file as being create dependent on the other.
