A shoot in the dark....

Long time ago (years), I tried to install Client Access (v. 5.4) on my
ThinkPad upgraded to Windows 7 (32 bit).

I wanted it to be installed on my D-partition - but it could not be installed.
Ended up with errors - I cannot remember.

Then I selected my C-partition and the installation successed :-)
And "yes" it had to be installed "as Administrator".

As told... this is a wild guess !!!

I stated in the OP that i did try using run as administrator and have
disabled UAC, no anti-virus software is running, etc. i've been grasping
at straws for a while now :D
