There certainly are Bluetooth barcode scanners that you can connect to mobile devices. I have a customer using a Bluetooth scan wedge attached to a Google Nexus 7 tablet. Heck of a lot cheaper than a traditional scan gun. Tablet was only $199. I think the Bluetooth scanner was close to the same price. I believe this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16838133044 is the latest version of the scanner they are using. Then just added a case he found that had an arm strap. User straps tablet to their forearm (7" tablets are not too big) and holds wedge in other hand.

So roughly $450. He was able to get this set up <vendor> using his web based Profound UI applications </vendor> easily. Heck he could set up 4 of these for what some traditional scan guns cost. And with the increased screen real estate on the 7" device, he was able to make his application much more useful.

Not that I know of.

I have to admit the iPhone scanning is cute, but nothing beats the girth of a Windows CE device where you can scan a barcode from a couple feet away.

Would be cool if there was an external blue tooth barcode reader attachment to read the barcodes and pass to the iPhone.

collection?

Any of the commercial barcode scan solution providers (for IBM i) using iPad camera as input device instead of scan guns?
