CR2 are dinosaurs. I am surprised, as you are always on the latest and greatest and you give everyone sh1t for not being on the latest release. Ha ha ha, see it's not aways easy to be on the latest.
7.7.4 is pretty old for me and my customers, we would have upgraded them by now.
Make sure you get CR7 with 2 disks and mirror them when you order the new ones.

I just don't see a point in upgrading our HMC's. They're not that far
behind- 7.7.4sp2. And, since they are CR2's I'll be replacing them for our impending P7 upgrades. (2, maybe 3, new power 7's!).

We always boot every HMC before we upgrade it. I have heard a similar
statement from IBM. I know this was an error, but I haven't seen this
happening in 7.7.6.

IBM tech recommended powering down and rebooting the HMC.
He said IBM recommends rebooting every month.
