I have a need to encrypt files stored on our iSeries at V6R1. Actually they are on a NAS server that does not support native encryption. The iSeries uses a NFS mount over the NFS share. Only the iSeries writes files to the NAS. The files are mostly tiff and jpeg images but other file types will also need to be encrypted in the future. We will have to change the way we retrieve the files for display on the PC's as we currently send a UNC path to the SMB share of the NAS. That can be changed to the SMB share (Netserver) on the iSeries. I am currently researching Alliance AES encryption and Linoma Crypto Complete solutions. What else is out there and how hard is it to roll your own?
