You can always use the "poor mans" xref tool:

STRPDM option 25 and F13 to repeat.

Hey, it works.

Be aware that DSPPGMREF and the 3rd party tools can miss things, for example:

- logical files that need to be dealt with (if searching on the PF)
- OPNQRYF references to files
- SQL references to files
- filenames that are passed as parms to pgms
- copy books that area expanded to include filenames
- DDS REFFLD fields & files
- probably a bunch of other cases

Only by buying a third party tool.

I need to be able to list all programs that use a physical or logical file.

I could use the DSPPGMREF command to an out file and then search that file.
This is not exactly what I want to do and am trying to find a command or
alternate method to get the programs that use a file or other object. I do
not want to have to use DSPPGMREF for every file.

I need to recompile programs that use particular file.
