Well, I came up a solution that works in my case.

ALTER TABLE MIKE/MYFILE DROP COLUMN TIID CASCADE

alter table MIKE/MYFILE add column TIID INT Generated always
as identity (start with 1 increment by 1)


I don't have any other files dependent on the values of TIID.

A very big "WAG" but, if your ID value is not unique, What would happen if
you create a SEQUENCE object and THEN update your identity column using
your sequence value?

Did you expect to get the identity values renumbered based on the
restart?

With the next write you'll get the restart number in your row, but the
existing rows are NOT renumbered.
