I seem to recall that global temporary tables could not have identity columns, but not sure about that..

I didn't have an identity or nullable fields...

By using:

Declare global temporary table FAA5905 like MYLIB/FAA5905
RCDFMT IAA5905

the temporary file now has the same record format level id as the original.

However, it appears that the safe route to take is combining all of these
options:

Declare global temporary table FAA5905 like MYLIB/FAA5905
INCLUDING IDENTITY COLUMN ATTRIBUTES
INCLUDING COLUMN DEFAULTS
RCDFMT IAA5905
