Can node.js run under IBM i? Can you give an example of a "dead simple" web application? I know we've talked about web socket listeners and servers on the web400 list, but every example put forth had annoying limitations such as the number of broadcast contexts. For example, a web socket server could be broadcasting changes to inventory to one set of listeners, or broadcasting changes to time changes to another set of listeners, but not service both types of clients simultaneously.

This is a great example of making old technology work with new thinking.
This is dead simple in a web application. A client side JavaScript could be
set to listen for changes from a server side script. I believe this is
where Node.js is best sending events to the client.
