Rob,

Short answer "Yes". Each client needs a dedicate LAN card to be used as the service tools interface. The card CAN be a virtual adapter, a port on the IVE, or a separate physical port on a real card. OK YOU COULD share by varying off the current Line Description, configuring the service tools LAN adapter, and then going back but that's a pain for many reasons.

I use this a TON on both internal virtual LANs and physical LANs and it is wonderful once you get your head around it. Mostly I create a completely separate internal vlan to use for this function only and configure every partition to have a service tools interface on it.

The server (or host) does NOT need a dedicated card as you are essentially using NFS to access the files there. HOWEVER it's not in the documentation that this function will NOT WORK if you have Jumbo Frames (frames larger than 1500 bytes) configured on the Host partition interface that's being used for this function. WHY it's not in there YET (It's been well over a year) is beyond me. They even got cranky with me because I had Jumbos on yet couldn't point to where it said not to. (So you have been warned. :-) )

Do I have to have a dedicated lan card for this on each client? If not,
how do I get this to work?
