What does the compiler do with this:

01 REC.
02 S1 PIC X(10).
02 S2 REDEFINES S1.
03 S2A PIC XXX.
03 S2B PIC XXX.

I don't believe I ever did a redefinition where the length was
unequal. If that works, however, what happens if S2A and S2B get
changed from PIC XXX to PIC X(6)? My thought would be an error to the
effect that S2 redefines S1 with unequal size.

Rats, I should have looked at the listing. COBOL didn't like the PIC on
S1. It ignored it, and defined S1 as 6 long according to its subfields
S1A and S1B.
