Hi Cyndi,

Going thru the same thing as you. I went down the IPP route for the HP
lasers, which gave me the ability to stop/start/hold, but little else.

I am using an HP print server (don't mess with generics) for our IBM line
printer in the same fashion. But need to figure out how to get page control
like we had with twinax. I suspect I need to move to PJL or SNMP.

I used the System I Navigator to create all the printers/outques (as
someone here suggested).

I'm trying to balance priorities with the project, but to me me report
printing is such a dated practice anyway, so page control is not that
important to me - only one line printer.

But if I do figure something out, happy to share, but I'm sure someone here
will have far better insight.

Regards...james

hi Cyndi,

We are using both Ricoh and Sharp copiers. We don't use RMTOUTQ (YUCK!)
with any of them, we use a *LAN DEVD that's communicating with the IBM
SNMP driver, and it has worked very well with both models.

I had to write some custom exit programs that are quite complicated to
enable the stapling and hole-punching features of both copiers. But, if
you don't need that, standard host-print-transform works well.

Morning everyone. At some time today, I will have a new
copier/printer to integrate into our system.

In the past, we have had Ricoh copiers. On the iSeries, we have
created outq's with remote writers. Not the best option, no
control.

I would like to have more control (page control especially) on these
new ones. We will be getting one Canon iRc 8105; 5 Canon iR 6065's;
and an unknown number of Canon iR4045's. We are currently on V6, but
going to V7 in a few months.

Recently there was a discussion of how to do this, could someone send
me a link ? I'm not putting together search arguments very well
today.

Thanks to all.
