Rob,

Do remember that while all that HSL stuff is not supported by IBM i 'next' it is still usable. You can either us VIOS to host the partitions thus utilizing the hardware by 'hiding' it from IBM i or you can also use an IBM i 7.1 partition to host the IBM i 'next' partitions.

We have 3 boxes. Currently all Power 6. Subject to change in the near

- Host lpar is primarily Domino. Cluster 3 of 3. For example, lparA on
box1 may have Domino servers: NOTES01, GDDATA. lparB on box2 may have
NOTES02, GDDATA2. lparC on this box will have: NOTES03, GDDATA3.
- Second lpar on this box is a sandbox lpar of IBM i. Permission to IPL
on a whim.
- third lpar is dmz triple cluster of our domino smtp server.
Yes, this will be upgraded to power 7.
The machine that has the most lpars: MimixProd, MimixDev, DominoCluster2,
DMZDominoSmtp2, TSMLinuxPrimary, will remain at Power 6. This is our "2"
box. He'll be getting a lot of castoff's from the other planned upgrades.
I'm a little concerned because much of the hardware has been announced by
IBM to be trash with the OS planned after 7.1 and this machine will on
that release NLT one quarter after GA.
Our "1" box will be upgraded to Power 7.

We will 'play' with vios on our "3" box. Contract with IBM using vouchers
gained by the money throwing at hardware to do this for us on a learn by
an "install and train".
