Sounds like you guys are the traditional SAN scenario we have seen. We do if for non-i, but not i.
Why on earth isn't your shop implementing SAN for i if you're such a proponent ?
Just curious why SAN doesn't make sense if you are not doing it for your current upgrade ?
Can you share some of the IBM SAN webinar links ?

I suggest Richard review some of the recent webcasts IBM has made
concerning running i on SAN. There are some advanced features for HA that
appeal to some shops. IF you are already a SAN shop the question becomes
why on earth would you want to NOT use SAN?
Even if you feel that SAN is not in your immediate future I think it is
something you need to keep abreast of as far as trends and directions.
Some of the new systems it is the ONLY option.
We have NetApp for PC type stuff but we're keeping our eye's open for
future trends and directions. Probably not going SAN for our hardware
upgrade for Power on the near horizon.
