In response to both of the above comments... The archives are easily checked. A search is one way, but most likely more easily for both of the above...

Visit a month of archived message Subject: and From:, the month in which the email should have been posted, and then use the Find [e.g. Ctrl-F] feature to search within the page, to locate the message [thread] by subject or poster:
