I think the 'idea' of combining Service Director and the HMC at least at
the high level wasn't such a bad idea. However for those of us that wanted
just what the HMC offered and really didn't want/need SD the shift to the
SD interface was a pain. Yesterday my CLs that move my tape adapter
between partitions quit working. After some digging I found a printout that
said the profile I was using had an expired password. OK so after some
poking around the GUI I couldn't find a place to reset the profile or even
change the password. Per the folks at support. there isn't a GUI option to
do these tasks, I needed to use the cmdline interface to the SDMC to do it.
OH BTW the GUI showed the profile was not expired...

Sound like to convert to an HMC and you have the 7042-CR6, you just
wipe and install HMC code. That is at least at the 30,000ft level.


Apparently that one was thrown out there so fast, the document
available from the "External" link was\is still marked "Confidential" ;-)
