I know of one software company in San Antonio that is giving seminars for
old-timers who want to move from RPG to C#.

In this economy, where even Junior just leaving his wet nurse is having a
tough time finding a job, can they really afford to be that picky? Once
they get in there perhaps they'll see the light and convert.

Honestly, it's been a decade and a half or so since we've done interns in
IT. But the first thing they had to do was gobble up the old ATS courses
and go from there. Many of the other departments are using Interns with
quite a structured program (award winning in fact). But not IT at this
time.

But if they go to a company which encourages SEU over RDP, which
discourages free format RPG because the IT director wrote this nifty
utility 20 years ago that is dependent on fixed format, which gives them a
5251 terminal instead of a modern PC, which is running V4R5, which thinks
that the only use for the internet is for perverts to surf inappropriate
materials, and a host of other onerous conditions they're going to play
heck with recruitment and retention.
