You may want to use the CHGDSTPWD command - here is a bit of help on it -

Change DST Password (CHGDSTPWD)

Restriction: This command is shipped with public *USE authority, but
you must be signed on as QSECOFR to use it. You cannot authorize
other users to the command.

The value of *DEFAULT for the password sets it to QSECOFR for the DST/SST QSECOFR user. Then you can set it when you sign in to STRSST again - it may force you to.

Once you've changed it - you probably won't be able to reuse something in the last 32 count - you should create your own DST/SST user and password - that way, QSECOFR won't be so easily corrupted. At V5R1 I believe you cannot do this with STRSST - you have to go into DST, where you'll see an option for this. I forget the name of the option.

Once in that option, you can set passwords to anything - the restriction on repeat usage is not enforced here - just as it is not enforced in CHGUSRPRF while it is in CHGPWD, as I recall.

So you could put your QSECOFR back to what you wrote down. Or not.

But do create one of your own down there. It'll minimize your headaches down the road - and with that hat, well!!

You didn't, by chance, have another user profile with *SECADM authority who
could change QSECOFR's password, do you?
